My Story
My name is Lisfer (Lis) and I'm the Cake Designer and maker behind Sweet & Blossom.
So, how did Sweet & Blossom originate? Well, I have always been a creative person, since I was a little girl I did a lot of handicraft courses, from ceramic painting, foami, jewelry and more... but I had no idea how to make a living from it so I ended up graduating in International Trade in my country. Yes, I was born and raised in Venezuela and when I was 26 years old I decided to emigrate alone to the United States, specifically to Miami, where I currently live and work.
I could never perfom my professional career in my country, but I worked as administrative assistant for a Restaurant and then I did accounting for a public company, while pursuing a diploma in business management, with this I only discovered that working for someone else and in an office from Monday to Friday was definitely not my thing, because of this I quit my job, sold my car and with that money I decided to start my adventure to the United States without a clear plan and just a suitcase full of dreams.
But 6 months after arriving I met my husband and then 1 year later my daughter arrived!
In pandemic when the company that my husband and I had started had to close, I started a Cake Supply business with my older sister from home, the business was about selling all kinds of materials and baking utensils by Instagram in Venezuela. How did I do it? I imported the products from China, Australia, Canada, etc. I received them in my house, I kept a sample to take pictures and videos and then I exported them to Venezuela where my sister was in charge of distributing them. Today we continue working together and we have a community of more than 50k followers on Instagram, a physical store and an ecommerce.
Yep, I can say that I am an entrepreneur by nature, that is why two years after starting this business I already had a space in my house full of boxes with all the samples of cake supplies that I used for the photos, that was when I thought I have to do something with this... and I started practicing in my free time.
But before this, in December 2019, being the creative person that I am, on my daughter's first birthday, I decided to make and decorate her cake myself with the help of Youtube, of course! I must confess that my love for cake decorating began here, but it was not until 2022 that I decided to enter the world of pastry and study it formally at Florida Education Institute obtaining a certificate in Baking and Pastry Arts.
Then I continued specializing in cake decorating, taking intensive courses with professionals in the industry. I don't really know how many courses I have taken until today, but yes, I am obsessive and curious about learning new techniques when it comes to cake decorating.
I must mention that all these courses made me passionate about baking and it was then that I decided to open my own cake business... Sweet & Blossom
I started making all kinds of cakes for celebrations, obtaining truly beautiful results and meeting incredible clients where many of them have already become friends.
Today I am redirecting my business towards event cakes, why? From the beginning that was always the goal, to create cakes for events with unique and innovative designs that are the center of attention of any special moment.
I am a faithful lover of textures, pastel colors and of course flowers... which is why I would say that I am more towards vintage and romantic styles with modern touches. I like to go a little outside of the traditional, of what people expect, to create pieces of edible art that please both the eye and the taste.
However, I always like to observe or understand the style of each client in order to achieve the cake they want. I can be inspired by their personality, favorite colors, art, clothes and more... inspiration is everywhere and I can capture all that in a single cake.
I have many plans for the future and I definitely see myself doing what I love to do most, which is baking and decorating... of course with a much broader client portfolio and being a reference in the industry.
And you who read me, all that remains is to tell you that dreams do come true as long as you have the courage to go after them.

Since I was little I like flowers in patterns, fabrics, accessories, decorations and more... that's where the name Blossom comes from since I love floral cakes, but I have never liked being given natural flowers on special occasions.I still don't understand the reason, yes I know it's super contradictory!

The first time I made a cake was for my husband's birthday, it was his first birthday that we spent together and we wanted to make the cake, when we finished and I saw everything that had to be cleaned I clearly remember thinking: people who are dedicated to this is crazy! This was in July 2017.

My love for sweets was born during my pregnancy, I loved strawberry ice cream and I was more receptive to trying desserts like 3 leches, mousses and more... before that, since I was little I always chose salty flavors over sweet, even today I can remember the food my parents served at gatherings but I can never remember any dessert. Nowadays I prefer cold desserts with citrus flavors.

In my free time I love reading romantic stories or fiction, and when history catches me you can find me reading non-stop until the wee hours of the morning.
Since I was a teenager my favorite singer is Ricardo Arjona, I have gone to several of his concerts but I hope one day to be able to see him in the front row.
